Bringing in Help for the First Time

We are bringing in a night aide to help with the care of my father so that my mother can get some sleep at night.  She's worried about how to explain the situation to my dad as he obviously does not adjust to change well.

Does anyone have any advise on how to communicate the change to him?

I told my husband that we were going to hire a person because they lost their job. He thought it was a great idea.

When I hired a home care aid for DW, I told her the the aid was there to help me. I was actually scheduled for surgery so it was an easy sell. Since the help was for me she did not object. Once the aid was here for a few weeks DW bonded with her and she has been with us over 3 years.

Melanie, welcome to the forum. I don't have anything to add, but feel free to post anytime when you need advice or just want to rant. Someone is usually around, and we're here to help.
