Mixed dementia(3)

So, after mom’s 3T MRI/MRA last week- which she refused to cooperate long enough for contrast for, as well as neurocognitive results- today mom’s final diagnosis from Neurologist is that it is mixed dementia: Alzheimer’s and Vascular. I had been reading all about Alzheimer’s and. I thing on vascular yet. Anyone in the same boat? They also said that the small aneurysm they saw that didn’t cause any of her recent “issues” is not as small as the ER and previous doctors made it seem and we are also referred to a neurosurgeon how do o even get mom through a surgery like that???

Thanks for listening- interested to hear people’s experiences and feedback.

Trish

Trish, I suppose an office consult with a neurosurgeon wouldn't hurt, but your instincts are correct, you'd be hard pressed to operate on her. Best thing that could happen is that the neurosurgeon looks at her and agrees she's not an operative candidate. I'd forget about it.  Sounds like a CYA move on this  doctor's part frankly.
