Medicine unlikely to be used properly

I took Mom to the GYN last Thursday for a repeat issue regarding an irritated outside area.  The doctor prescribed a hydrocortisone cream to be used once daily at bedtime on the affected area for 14 days.  She and the doctor went over this for umpteen times before  we left the doctors office.  She and I discussed it on a repetitive loop for about 40 minutes on the way home.  I mean that was the only topic for 40 minutes.   Ever day since then we’ve had the same conversation by phone repeatedly.  Every day she whines that it isn’t working fast enough and I remind her that the doctor said it would take almost the entire two weeks.  Today she tells me that she’s going to quit taking it because it’s not working fast enough. So we went over the instructions again repeatedly.  This is a cream that the ASL is letting her handle herself due to the area involved. I can’t go over there and make sure she puts it on due to Covid. I wish the nurse would tell her to do it during the day and stand outside the bathroom to ensure she uses it.

My dad is there too... not that he is helping in this matter.  I took him to the doctor today and he told me mom is ‘doing just fine with it’.  He brushed off my comments about the repetitive conversation saying she doesn’t do that with him.

Something tells me that we will be back  at the GYN in a few weeks dealing with this a third time and getting a biopsy done when it’s just an irritated area because she keeps using creams and baby wipes ( rather than toilet paper) that irritate her skin, even though she’s told not to.

I don’t expect advice.... just venting.
