me:  It was very hard to remain enthusiastic and joyful when I was a caregiver for those 9 years, especially when my parents were in the last years of their lives.  But over and over, I felt God was reminding me that what I chose to think about made all the difference as to whether I was defeated and depressed or victorious and upbeat. Many times I fell into what I call pits of darkness, but soon I'd emerge with a decision to think positively.  When I made that choice, I was more peaceful, more joyful, and I definitely had more energy.
