I may have COVID. What do I do?

I am the sole caregiver for my parents and I have a fever of 100.1, runny nose, cough, fatigue - a lot of the symptoms of COVID.  What do I do if I test positive?  Who will care for my parents if I have COVID?

Find out if your parents have Covid as well. If not, stay in your room and don't come out for 14 days or however long it takes to not be contagious. Have a caregiver leave meals outside your door. Increase the caregiver hours whether or not they have covid too and order a bunch of groceries to be delivered. My friend's parents both got Covid and she was able to find an agency that provided caregivers that were willing to work with covid positive patients. They wore gloves, mask, face shield etc.  I'd also consider where you may have picked up the the covid virus (or any virus) - could it have been from your current caregiver? Is the caregiver always wearing a mask at your home and taking other precautions?

This is a scary nightmare for sure. I always had the same fear because I had no family that could take over. I hope you get your results soon, that it's NOT covid, and that you feel better soon regardless.  There's a post on the spouse's forum right now from a wife that thinks she has covid - there's info there on what do to if she has to go to the hospital. You might want to check it out.
