new to the forum and absolutely lost.  Mom with dementia and very violent-has stabbed people with scissors, beat my father with Parkinson’s with a brass headed cane leaving him

In the Hospital and still her caregiver will not provider orders for memory care.  I feel this is so irresponsible-but she says it is up to my mother and won’t communicate with us.  I don’t know where to turn but fearful she will really hurt someone badly and end up institutionalized.  Has anyone gone through this with their parents physician?

Pollyanna, this is one thing that can't go on as is. She could easily kill your father. If you could get her into a geri psych setting, they might be able to fine tune her medications to address the violence. Something has to give. It's too dangerous. Others will surely have more to say on this.

Pollyanna, does anyone have her power of attorney? If not it sounds like you need an elder law attorney urgently. I'm no expert, but if she's a danger to herself and others you should be able to seek emergency guardianship. So sorry. And you may need to involve adult protective services for your father as well.

Polyanna_4good I believe you need to call the ALZ Helpline. 800-272-3900. Ask to speak with a care consultant. They will listen and be able to give you advice.
Clearly this is a VERY dangerous situation for everyone involved. Is a neurologist involved? Are they aware of this situation? Is she taking her medications? There are just so many questions here.
Take a deep breath and call the Helpline. Get a baseline on what your steps need to be and follow them through.
I'm so sorry your in this situation.
