Jerry has passed
My husband of 33 years passed peacefully in his sleep today. In fact he has been sleeping for the last two days almost non stop. He has been almost unresponsive during that time. I was expecting the rn to visit this am , so I gave him a change and a fresh sheet. He had had night sweats during the night so I gave him a sponge bath, he was barely aware of any of it until I kissed him on the forehead , and he sighed. An hour later he was gone.In spite of covid I have allowed our sons each a time to say goodbye. Hospice completely took care of everything , and his body has been delivered to the anatomical board of colorado. I am devastated but I think for all my faults I did a very good job after all thanks to all of you I know I couldn't have done it without you. Love and Peace to all of you Tami

Dear Tami, Your journey with your husband honored him in life and in death. Here we learn to share and honor all of life's mysteries. We continue to be here for you in your grief that honors Jerry's life, as well.

Tami I am so sorry for your loss as caregivers we do what we do because we love them, and your husband was telling you that with his sigh that he loved you and a job well done. Please take care of yourself because as Army Vet said Losing a LO to ALZ as a spouse and caregiver does damage that can be long term if ignored. God’s Blessings to you as you start on a new journey in life alone. Richard

Despite loss there is gain. You have done your job as caretaker in love. Jerry is at peace, no more suffering. That is what I dwell upon in the last hours remaining of my wife and my 58 years of marriage. I live in today. The sorrow of thinking about too many days is heartbreaking to the brink of tears. He must have been a wonderful man to have had the love and attention you gave him. God Bless and may your sorrow be turned to tears of joy for you had a life of good memories.0
