She calls and cries every day

We are at the stage where Mom calls multiple times every day crying.  She knows she has issues with memory and confusion, but she thinks they are temporary.  She cries because she’s not getting better.  She cries because my Dad is still unhappy at their assisted living center.  She cries because she thinks he is having trouble swallowing( he denies it/ he has had thyroid cancer surgery multiple times and has issues with his throat).  She cries because she is still having an irritation outside ‘down there’.  She is still on a prescription cream for that and I have called the doctor.  Then she will call and say  she’s sorry to have bothered me.  She worries all day long but doesn’t want any more medication ‘ that will put her in a fog’.

I think we are still in stage 4, but sometimes I wonder.

I’m still not allowed to visit due to the virus, but I see them often since I take them to the doctor.

This sounds so trying for you Quilting. I wonder if Covid weren't going on, and she were involved in activities that kept her mind busy instead of sitting and thinking and worrying, if it would be any better.

I do think that is part of it.  The dining hall is open again, and they are allowed to go to very small activities ( informal Rummikub games, etc) now.  They all got their first vaccine shot this week.  I am hopeful that by March 1st that they will be allowed to leave the facility more often and have visitors.   The center has a puzzle always in place in the activity room even during Covid and I bought her a couple easy 100/300 piece puzzles for their room. I thought those might help her pass the time.   She hasn’t opened them.  She seems overwhelmed at the idea.   She is expressing social anxiety about the informal Rummikub games, mostly regarding the conversations that occur at that time.
