My husband was diagnosed 5 years ago with Alzheimer’s. Now we have been told he has Lewy Bodies with Parkinson. He is taking Depakote and Seroquel. Has anyone had this to happen and medication?

My husband was given carbidopa levadopa when diagnosed with Parkinson's. His later diagnosis was Lewy Body dementia and in his last year was prescribed seroquel. He was treated by a movement specialist.1

4grams,
Yes, Bob was first diagnosed with AD and later with LBD. There is a wonderful forum specifically for Lewy spouses. You have to be accepted to become a member, but it's a wonderful group with active participation.

My husband has had dementia for years but recently diagnosed with LBD. His mobility has become an issue, be spends most if the day in his recliner with eyes closed. Worst of all is incontinence which started last April but has become severe, especially at night. Urologist said there is no medication to help. Suggested catheterization before bed to totally empty his bladder. I am not up to that. So, Depends with extra shield and I change/wash sheets daily. Trying to keep my house from smelling like a giant urinal. Any suggestions?0

I know unbrewed coffee is very good at absorbing odors. Have never tried it for urine so not sure about that. Would just put some in open containers and set them around house. If you try it and it works, let us know.0

Thank you Sayra. I'm ready to try anything. I have Glade plug-ins but sometimes those are overpowering.0

I recently came across some videos on youtube called Molly's Movement. The videos were made by Molly's son, about her journey with Lewy Body Dementia. There is also a website and Facebook page.0

Thank you for the info. I watched episode one. I do wish the series had started earlier in her dementia. Also, she is in a care facility. Something I will never be able to afford, so series doesn't address the daily struggle of full time home care. Will continue to watch. Future episodes may be different.1
