Spouse diagnose with ALZ and VD

My husband has been diagnose with ALZ for several years then with more testing he was diagnose with VD.  He got the double whammy.  I would like to talk to people who spouse has the same diagnose.

Right now my husband has more short term memory loss then long term, and most of the day it is a repeat of the last 10 minutes to 1 hour.  Sometimes it gets frustrating to me. When it does,  I take the dogs for a walk to vent frustrations.  It is so hard to see him from a vibrant  person to this disease. Right now I need people that understand this.  Let start some conversation.

Welcome Susan, there are many here in the same boat.  Many folks with more than one diagnosis, too--that's pretty common.  Lots of good information in these forums, and if you keep reading, you will learn to identify those threads with issues similar to yours.  I think we all miss our former loved ones as we used to know them.  Sorry you need to be here but glad you've found us.

Greetings Susan.  Saw your post and will share our caring with you. After noticing short term memory problems for several years and hoping it was only that condition like one of her aging parents, my DW was diagnosed with ALZ + VD in mid 2017 and confirmed in early 2018 with a scan showing more damage in visual lobe than verbal. I will try to answer any question truthfully as pertaining to her condition or how we have tried to solve daily challenges. She is still at home during this problematic time.

So sorry for this very late delay in this conversation.  I found some quite time today.  How is everything with you now?  We were busy with the ALZ walk where I lived and my husband did go to the event, he did not walk he stayed with his brother in law while we walked.  But he got worried a little at the walk because he was confused why he was there and not me, once he seen me, he was ok.  I see changes in him everyday.  He would be talking about the old days and remember so vividly but his day to day he cant remember one conversation he had. 5 minutes ago. Does this happen to you?
