POA Question- selling car

Hi all!

I need to sell my mothers car and it is in her name only. I bought it for her a year ago when all was well. I was dumb not to put my name on title when I thought of it at the time. In any case, I need to sell it now, has anyone experienced selling an automobile using a POA? Were there any obstacles or was it not a big deal?

Thanks!

Hi Tross.  Although this may be different in different states, here in California (land of political complications) this was the easiest paperwork I've done.  Just do what the DMV wants, and sign your POA signature where your mom's signature goes.  Hope this takes a load off your mind.

We just sold my MILs van. My husband has POA. We’re in SC but he was there and back in just a few hours. Super simple.

I had a bad experience at AAA (in PA). They refused to honor my POA and I had to bring mom in (she was unable to sign her name but I helped her make an X). Not sure what this accomplished, since she was obviously clueless, but I was later told AAA is very strict about any & all rules, and that I should have just gone elsewhere.
