Nytimes says Dementia patients twice as likely to catch cpvid

  They are also more likely to be hospitalized and die from COVID too.

    Thanks for posting this battle buddy. Interesting. As stated, it is a "huge study" in terms of the # of patient records examined (1/5 of the US population), but the actual study group was only 810 patients.

    that is not meaningful
     
     1,064,960 who had dementia,
    15,770 with COVID‐19, and
    810 with both dementia and COVID‐19   

      You are comparing the 810 with both to the larger groups. This is standard stuff

     
    that yielded a very confident result   With a very narrow confidence interval

     adjusted odds ratio [AOR]: 2.00 [95% confidence interval (CI), 1.94–2.06], P < .001)

     the impact of dementia on the risk for SARS‐CoV2 infection persists after controlling for nursing home care. Yet, even after adjusting for these risk factors, patients with dementia still had high risk for COVID‐19 compared to patients without dementia
