Pretty good memoir in the February 1 New Yorker

The widower of a woman with Parkinson's described his effort to care for her at home as her hallucinations and dementia progressed.  When their situation became so dire that the neighbors called the police, they took both of them to hospital.  She was psychotic, and he was near death from exhaustion, malnutrition, and dehydration.  I guess you can only do so much.

That's a good reminder, Stuck. Those who are struggling with placement should remember this.

What a great story.   I enjoyed reading this and know so many who have dementia have hallucinations.    This is also a good reminder that each caretaker must take care of themselves as well.    Thank you for sharing this.
