young adult children of Alzheimer’s patient forums?

I am looking to connect with any other young adults that are helping caregiver for their parent. I am 28 and while most of my friends parents are healthy and well my father, my own personal super hero, one of my favorite people on earth is becoming someone I don’t even recognize anymore. Just looking for support from peers.

I think we need a separate forum for this topic. I know it has been requested in the past. But for now, if you go on the "Young Onset & Other Dementia" forum, you will find a long standing thread for "Children of Early Onset Parents".

I hope you can find others your age to connect with, on and/or off this site.

My son is 23. While my dh is not his parent, he is in the household and needing to cope. The issues would be different but related. If you are interested, I could send you contact information.

There are support groups listed under the local resources tab.  They all meet virtually right now and I found one that is 200+ miles away, but meets my specific needs of being in the "Sandwich" generation.  I've got kids to take care of as well as parents that need care.  I encourage you to flip through it and set the distance parameters to 500 miles and then scroll through to find one that works for you.  I've had to tryout several of them to find one that was a good fit.  Several times I was 20-25 years younger than the next youngest person in the group.  We just weren't on the same journey.
