Television

Does any of your LO's get upset if the TV is not on their station. My mom gets so upset if the TV is changed.  Is this just a part of the deme.

Yes, even though it’s re runs, but it’s the only thing that calms her. One day one of her channels went out and she nearly lost it!

    Yep. It's a thing.

My sister is (still) a big fan of the Walking Dead, and if the channel its on is changed ...

You'd think that show would inspire nightmares, but it doesn't seem to.

My mom also insists that the TV be tuned to one specific channel, Grit TV, home to perpetual cowboy movies. It's always on, blasting perpetual gun fights and Indian chases. She can no longer follow the shows. I don't even think she actually watches the TV. But I think that it sooths her somehow. I'm told that at her AL residence many families leave the TV on 24 hours for their LOs.

GRIT here too! My mother goes back and forth from that to Buzzr.  Only two channels she watches and has memorized. I know every answer to every game show ever made in the 70’s and 80’s!

She also doesn’t seem to comprehend them half the time.

Oh gosh samething with my mom. Grit or buzz channel. Also kinda weird she seems to know if TV is off Grit channel...if another western is playing on another channel she seems to not be interested. I don't think she comprehend s much anymore..she naps more than watches....

My husband would only watch TimeLife infomercials. Carol Burnett. Laugh-in, Johnny Carson etc. Drove me insane. Then I switched our service to Xfinity and we no longer have those channels.  I feel a bit sorry for my husband, but what a relief for me.

I’m going through this right now. This is very disruptive especially while I’m working from home. Sometimes I put on YouTube that will run her shows continuously.

Is it possible that these shows from "yester year" (to us) are "current" and "familiar" to LOs so they are more interested?  They also have slower and more streamlined timelines and might be easier to follow.  That being said, there are certain news stations that I'd be grumpy about if someone switched to them and left me with no way to change the channel.
