Five star ratings on Medicare.gov that families depend on when choosing NHs?  Not so fast; all may not be what it seems since NHs do their own reporting, providing numbers in data and no one checks its accuracy  . . . . .

This is something I have ranted about for ages; yet, I still found this lengthy article stunning in its information.  More than ever, a huge concern:

No penalties for such false reporting it seems.

Always, always read the state inspection reports online to get a more accurate picture.  Even Yelp is sometimes better than Medicare.gov LOL

This just hit the news:  Brookdale corporation being sued by the State of California:

In my opinion, the ratings are not accurate. Both my mother in law and sister in law had dementia. They both ended up at, what the family thought was, a great memory care. They started at different facilities that were horrid in different ways. The great memory care was the lowest rated of the trio.

Ratings in my experience mean very little.
