Not sundowning, sunUPing
My wife was diagnosed 4½ years ago. Sometimes she displays the symptoms of sundowning, except that she does so in the morning, not the evening. She will start out the day confused, then exhibit clarity as the morning progresses.
Sometimes she displays a strange form of shadowing. Instead of following me, she walks in front of me, anticipating where I might be going. Every few seconds she turns around to see if I am going the way she thinks I should be. This is irritating because she walks about half as fast as I do.
Has anyone else experienced these, or is she unique.

My LO did it for a while. She would wake up about 4-5, and stay confused and anxious until 9:30 or so. The doctor put her on Xanax. Haven’t heard any more about morning issues, but Trazodone was recently added for further anxiety and sleeping difficulties. She lives in assisted living and the staff keeps me informed about her moods. I also call daily and talk to her.0

Arrowhead, my mom would have bad mornings occasionally while in AL. She would wake at the usual time, but not be sure she was awake. She'd be confused, lost, and very weepy. They would bring her breakfast and sit with her a bit, until she seemed to know where/who/how awake she was. I walked in on one of these episodes, and she had trouble believing I wasn't a dream.
Later, in MC, she would occasionally have very agitated mornings. And towards the end, she'd have trouble falling asleep. Someone would sit with her so she could relax enough to sleep.

We have sumUPing here. Confused, weepy, easily upset.
