Please HELP ME.

Im new in this forum, im a single mother of two. My mother is 61 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer, she is actually in Dominican Republic but will be back to life with me here in USA. My main concern is i cant take care of my mom because i work all day in the field. My Mom don't have medical ensure here, and i dont know what to do, or what resources are in the community for help me to take care of my mom. PLEASE HELP ME.

    I'm sorry you must be here. Your mother may be able to manage herself for many years once she gets settled from the move. You'll have time to call 211 and find out what resources are available for her and you. Call the 1- 800 number for the Alzheimer's hotline and see what they can offer you. And get her a doctor right away and they may be able to suggest programs as well.

     It is very daunting to care for a parent with Alz but the decline is usually slow and you'll learn as you go and most people rise to the occasion and do a good job. Keep educating yourself about care giving, The words of Jo Huey were a big help to me. They can be found here:
