THIS IS THE START OF EASTER
*
Maundy Thursday, The Bread & Wine
*
 Luke 22:16-20
New International Version
*
"16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."
*
me:  No one took Jesus' life because He is all-powerful & can do all things. He gave us His suffering & death as a sacrifice for our sins.
*
TAKE AWAY:
Do I want to love like Jesus?
There is a cross with my name.

Sis, this is not a direct reply, but sort of an aside, since your comment about there being a cross with your name reminded me of this song, which came about after a conversation with my good friend Randy. We were talking about verses in scripture that only gave a tiny bit of information, and when Simon of Cyrene came up, Randy asked, " Wouldn't that be something to tell your kids and grand kids ? " It got me to thinking, and this is what came out.

       Simon of Cyrene

Let me tell you a story
    About what happened to me
How my life was changed in an instant
In a  way I could not foresee

I was on my way to Jerusalem
      Cuz'  I had business there
When I came upon a crowd of people
      Hurling curses in the air

    I pushed myself in closer
To see what I could see
There was a man surrounded by soldiers
He had fallen to one knee

I could see he had been carrying a cross
And no one would give him aid
One of the soldiers pointed at me
And I began to feel afraid

Surely you know how the blade of a sword
Makes for a mighty swift decision
I could  drop my things and give help to this man
Or face a very deep incision

So I stepped behind him and lifted up the cross
Got it settled on my spine
I still had no idea what was going on
But I felt his curse was mine

    All along our journey
This man was spat upon and beat
We both were covered with the dust of the road
    And suffering from the heat

So  when the soldiers finally took the cross from me
      My release was bittersweet
Because they took that man and they nailed him to that cross
      His hands and his feet

Then the soldiers lifted up that cross
Into a hole that they had prepared
For a moment there was only silence
As a hundred pairs of eyes just stared

And then on the wind came the sound of wailing
      Of hearts breaking all around
The man on the cross - he was speaking
To a woman near him on the ground

Then he cried " It is finished "
The earth began to moan and sway
I still was under some confusion
As to what had happened that day

      Then suddenly my heart comprehended
I was seeing The only Son of God
And I looked at Him with eyes of wonder
For my feet had stood where His had trod

Since that day my life has turned a corner
And I will never be the same
My sons and I  will ever tell the story
It's Jesus The Christ we proclaim

So now I've told you all I came to tell
Of that day so completely unforeseen
By the way did I say my name is Simon
      Simon, of Cyrene

VKB, thank you for the versus you post, and Chrisp, thank you for that poem.  Sometimes I forget and think I'm a sole caretaker, but then I'm reminded of the help and hope I receive everyday.  I couldn't do this without my faith and the strength I receive from our living God.

Happy Easter to all and thank God He did rise!
