Recommendation - Cleaning Service in Clearwater
Hi - I'm new to the board and am looking for some recommendations for a local/trusted cleaning service that can clean my parents' home every other week or so. Dad can use some help caring for Mom and as many of you can relate to - they're not convinced they need the help. I am not local to Florida right now and could use a referral.
Many thanks

Victoria, thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I wasn't thinking along those lines as they don't feel they need the help although I can see how Dad really does need some time to himself as he's quite depressed. Like you said, this sounds like a good way to ease into some help at home - along with some light cleaning, etc. Now to figure out how to get that all arranged..... Will start looking into different agencies online., etc. Thanks again.0

Sorry Ted I was thinking more literally, and I don’t know Clearwater. But Victoria advice is excellent. There are agencies—Comfort Keepers, Granny Nannies, etc. are examples although I don’t know if they are in Clearwater— that will provide helpers who have dementia experience and will also do some light housekeeping, meal prep, etc. You can find online some in Clearwater. Many require a 3-hour minimum.
You can also call the Alzheimer’s Association in Clearwater and ask for a list of such agencies that work there.
IME, much depends on the individual who is sent to you (the agencies are often like franchises). If one aide is not a good fit, you can ask for another. The downside, again IME, is that while an agency will tell you they make every effort to always send the same person, that may not always happen.
It would be good to start ASAP because your dad will almost certainly soon need a lot more help than he needs right now. (Assuming you’re here because your mom has signs of dementia)

Thank you for the reply Rescue Mom. I did not know these agencies existed. I've emailed them both so that I can learn more about what they offer and see what will make sense to do. Will also call Alz.org again next week to dig in a bit deeper. I've called before and they were very helpful. Got my Dad to call, and in hindsight feel it may have been a bit too overwhelming for him at the time... Yes, it's long over-due. Mom is in Stage 5 Alzheimer's and they/Dad has been reluctant to have any help at home....although I feel it can't go on much longer than this. He's really having a hard time coping. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.0
