"Ich habe mich verloren."  "I have lost myself "was the routine reply of Auguste Deter,  Dr. Alois Alzheimer's  first case of what became known as Alzheimer's disease.  

 This first described case of Alzheimr's is incredibly painfully similar to the experience of people here.

    Very interesting reading, I hadn't taken the time to find the reason it is called Alzheimer's Disease. I also see the similarities with what the caregivers here tell about their spouses or others, and quite a bit with Paul.

    DH doesn't use those exact words but he expresses similar sentiments.  It breaks my heart to hear him talk about how hard it is to remember and that he knows he is losing ground.
