How much water to drink?

I have been doing research. But I found all kinds of information online. From 2.7 liter for women to 1.7 for elderly.  Some just say each person is different. Also not sure if the number includes the fruit, soup from lunch/diner.
Please share your knowledge related this topic. thanks!

Yes, water in food does count, but exactly how much is a question. I have found sources that say 20% and some that say 40%. Vegetables and fruit have a high water content. The amount of water needed is different for each person. It is also important to remember that the elderly are not only at risk for dehydration but for overhydration. Talk to your doctor and ask for a consult with someone who determines how much water a kidney patient needs, and if you can't get that  see if you can get the doctor to at least give you a minimum amount needed.
