Glorious moment of joy!

I posted on Saturday because I was having a bad case of the blues. I also spoke of finding moments of joy in this terrible journey and yesterday I had the greatest one yet.

My sons play a silly little game amongst themselves of keeping score whenever they tell their Dad "I love you" and get one back. As of yesterday the score was extremely low if not nonexistent.  But yesterday as we were sitting out on the deck, my oldest son said to his father, "I love you Pop" and much to his amazement his father walked over to him, grabbed his head, planted a big kiss on the top of it and responded, "I have always loved you". My son's first response was 'That's a three pointer" then he immediately broke down in tears. It was indeed overwhelming but what a totally glorious moment.  I couldn't have asked for a better day.

Again, I pray for strength, patience and guidance for all of us as we journey on.

    I celebrate with you!

Those solitary moments of joy are beyond priceless.

    They are nurturing.

One of mine was when my mother could not remember who I was, but she said "I trust you."

How nice for you and your sons!  Our granddaughter, age 6, only knows her "Pop" with Alzheimer's.  We live on their property and she is down here at least once a day.  She fusses over him, kisses him, combs his hair, puts treats in his hands, asks him questions; it goes on and on.  She rarely gets a satisfactory response.  But on the few occasions when she has asked him, "Do you love me, Pop?" and he has answered, "yes", she has literally danced a jig.  It's the little things.......

I too celebrate with you! I live for those moments! I've found that my Mom responds to her great grandkids, better than she does to the older family members. I'm good with that. They understand Great Gma is sick, and loves to tell stories when they are around. Just watching them together.  Makes the good days far out weigh the bad ones!
