M1, are you there?

Thanks RobOT, I'm here! Perhaps a bit subdued this week. Recovering. We had 48 hours of fairly acute cognitive change that was kind of alarming-she was asking me things like "how do I know you?" and "did you ever meet my sister?" (We've been together 27.5 years), but then that cleared. So that other than being sore and looking very scraped and black and blue in the face ( like someone hit her on the forehead with a baseball bat) she seems to have escaped worse injury. Didn't break any bones, which is extremely fortunate. Keeping her quiet is a challenge, but I've held her normal aspirin and tried to curtail activity when I could.
She wears a pair of worn out soft clogs around the house that are losing their stitching and may have contributed to the fall, but refuses to let me get her a new pair. I think I'm just going to have to have them get lost-they are too worn out to restitch, even.
This has made me think hard about trauma, what's preventable and what's not. There's likely more to come I think...the latest safety hazard is that she'll leave the vacuum hose strung all over the floor (twenty-foot hose for a built-in house vac) which is an accident waiting to happen, and it doesn't matter how many times I say it, she can't remember to put it up. So maybe her obsessive cleaning is not a harmless pastime after all.
You're sweet to ask and I am grateful! April is always beautiful on the farm, so I am taking pleasure in the wildflowers, the visiting migrant ducks and birds, the nascent vegetable garden. Sad at the declines, but grateful for what remains.....and for this forum, for sure!

M1, very happy to hear she is improving. Enjoy the wildflowers for me too!0

Good to hear from you. I know the feeling of everything being too much, and sometimes anything I post just sounds like whining to me. Glad she's doing some better, it's so hard to accept the declines they have and the narrowing of activities they can enjoy. Hold her close and protect her, it's all we can do at this point. Hugs.0

Please read about fall prevention in older adults. It sounds like it would be self-explanatory. But there are many great suggestions that I have put in place for myself. I had several falls. Suitable footwear is a must.
