New Behavior(1)

My father was dx with lewy body dementia in April 2020.  Over the past few weeks, he has started yelling at everyone and has to have his way immediately or he gets agitated.  He expects us to drop whatever we are doing and do whatever he wants immediately.  We are not sure how to handle this behavior.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

This seems to be common among many people with dementia of various origin.

Has your LO been assessed recently by a geri-psychiatrist or gerontologist?

I took my mother to an excellent neuropsychiatrist who prescribed Seroquel for nighttimes.

Her anxiety was very high and delusions were angry ones in which people were doing mean things to my mother's mother.

Before this, she lost her social filter and was very impatient and said anything that came to mind.

She was more comfortable on the medications.  She also had multiple sclerosis, and had severe pain associated with it.

I agree with Kaw, it’s common behavior with all dementia. But there are others here with LBD family who may have other ideas.

Just one other thing: you may already know, but a big change in behavior can signal a UTI.

Otherwise, distraction and a thick skin is all I got to what’s already been said.
