Hi, What type of help do you need?0
-
Please be more specific so we can advise you. Are you looking to hire private caregivers? Are you looking for home health aide help paid by insurance? Respite? Placement? Has your LO had a hospice evaluation? If you give us more information, we may have some ideas.0

Have you called the ALZ Helpline? Answered 24/7 800-272-3900 and ask to speak with a care consultant. They might be able to at least point you in the correct direction.
What about the physician that did the diagnosis? Have you spoken with that office?
If you would be comfortable please share what type of help your seeking. Its easier to help you then.

I agree wholeheartedly. There are all of these services available but my mom doesn't qualify for any of them. Nobody we know would want to help because she doesn't like to do anything and will walk away from them constantly. Can't afford nursing home. I just completed a 12 hour day of chasing my mother around because her meds may be wearing off. I guess they will be increasing them on Monday at her Dr. appointment. It's exhausting! But of course the neighbors love to intervene to make us feel like we aren't watching her good enough so there's that.0

I agree with HGFowler...in my ten years of 24/7 caregiving I was unable to find any real help. Depending what state you live in, will determine what services will be offered. I live in Nevada and I can tell you there is absolutely no help of any value offered. Even the one small group support meeting that was offered by the ALZ. foundation was stopped in Las Vegas. I had two pro bono attorneys searching for financial aid for me and came up empty. Not every patient is welcoming to outside help and in my case, my partner was so aggressive and violent that bringing someone into the home was just not an option, so while there is phenomenal advice given on this site, when it comes to getting and finding help, there are so many variables that real help may be very hard to find. What worked for me in my decade long experience was first and foremost the amazing people on this site. Then I watched videos from Teepa Snow and others online to help me gain the skills in communication so I could better understand my LO so I could learn and be more patient with him. It was an uphill battle the entire time, but the challenge of being a full time caregiver ultimately made me a better and more patient person. Realize that there are no hard and fast answers for the challenges that will come your way in this difficult journey, but you can always find support and understanding of your situation on this site and more times than not, the answers you are seeking...0
