patch/shoe insert wandering GPS

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience with any of the GPS type tracking devices offered at the Alzheimer's store?  There is a shoe insert and patch type product too.

Obviously we do all we can to prevent wandering but on two occasions recently my Mom has attempted to get out of the home while I was in the bathroom. Yesterday while I was in the bathroom she actually got out through the garage while my husband was doing yard work in the back yard.  She had grabbed her empty purse and said she was walking to a friends house.  There is absolutely no way she could accomplish finding her friends home.

We have made the home a virtual lock down unit however there are bound to be times like yesterday and I especially wonder if the patch works.  I am just looking for another tool just in case.  I will be notifying the local police to be aware too.

Yesterday made me very glad I placed her on a waiting list for a care facility last week, it took just a few minutes for her to slip away.

Physically she is perfectly fine but she is advanced to stage 6 which is a dangerous combination when it comes to a wandering habit.

Hi, I’ve never tried the GPS shoe tracking device but I have knob coverings on all doors that I purchased from Amazon. They work very well. Try them on all doors, your loved one will not be able to wander off. Hope this helps

I put a tracking app on both of our cell phones. It displays a map on my phone to show me where she is. You just has to make sure she has it with her.
