Horrible case; the perpetrators went in as house cleaners and then took advantage stealing, decimating finances, putting house up for sale, withholding care to the woman with dementia, isolating her from family and friends . . .

Certainly family was not looking, and there were no safeguards in place.  All was preventable but alas . . .

The perpetrators deserve maximum sentences on every count; wonder if they will get it.

Stuck in the middle

This is good to read for us who get to thinking our efforts as caretakers are wasted.  Very bad things happen to PWDs who need caretakers and don't have them.  You may have seen the story of the 73 year old woman who had dementia and suffered a broken arm and dislocated shoulder during an arrest after she forgot to pay for a small item.  The police let her sit weeping in handcuffs for several hours without medical attention while they watched the body cam video and laughed at her.  That, and the situation you describe, is the kind of thing we are preventing.
