Another fall…

I just posted in the broken hip post two days ago..and then my mom fell again today and has broken her right hip. I had to take her off of hospice to admit her to the hospital. She will have an ortho consult in the a.m. I will have to decide whether she should have the surgery or not..intense pain either way. The doc said that she is not “impending” (their term for about to die). The ER doc thinks her heart is strong enough to survive surgery. I guess it hinges on what the ortho doc says. I will also be looking at having to make a decision about skilled care (something that greatly scares me based on two past skilled care stays).

My tank is empty tonight, I am in total overwhelm!

I'm sorry Sjodry, very tough. I know at least two other folks (Lickety and Jane Smith) have been through this recently. Hope they can keep her comfortable.

So sorry Sandy. Being caretaker is difficult enough but when big decisions need to be made it makes the jog even harder. Hugs to you and sending good thoughts your way.

I hope you were able to get some rest since your last post. How is your Mom doing? Will she have surgery? I hope things go well with all this. Good luck.

As it turns out, mom broke her right hip and pelvis in the fall. She will have surgery today. It was either surgery or leave her bed-bound on morphine forever..which I could not do to her.

If I am being honest, I feel that this is the beginning of God’s exit plan for her.

Thanks for asking about her, I appreciate that.

    Take care.
