A poem about our mornings

In the wee hours of morning, without any warning,

The cat begins his loud meow, meaning he wants to eat now.

The cat wakens my man, who stumbles to the can,

In order to pee, without help from me.

I pop out of bed, sleep still in my head.

If I don’t act quickly, the floor will be sticky.

When it comes to his aim, DH isn't the same.

The cat continues to whine. I think, “get in line”.

I have to help Jesse, or all will be messy.

I get my man dressed. He’s far from impressed.

He misses his handsome clothes. Easy care shorts replaced those.

Dear Jesse asks for coffee and then the TV. The cat loudly meows “what about me?!”

I feed the loud cat and think “be happy with that”.

I love my dog Hap. He gets up in my lap.

Hap licks my face, then gives me space,

To catch my breath, before the next step,

To take care of my man, the best that I can.

Our days begin early. It’s not even four thirty.

    I found your poem fine,

‘Til I read the last line.

Your care for DH is a gift,

But, LT, you’re working night shift!

    YAWN!!!!

(Good on you for bringing levity to the Groundhog Day monotony of caring for DH)

You inspired me .  Empty bed at Dawn

    An empty bed

     An empty room

    An empty life

    Nothing but gloom

    Her body  walks

    But she is gone

    There are no talks

    To fill the dawn

    They comb her hair

    And paint her nails

    Dress her in blue

    And shirts with sails

    My princess bride

    She came to be

    The  golden life

    She built with me

    She stunned the world

    With grit and brains

    She’s in the books

    They know her name

    We walked with bears

    And Rhinos too

    Dove coral reefs

    So deep and blue

    We raised two girls

    So bright and strong

    I lean on them

    To get along

    Fifty  years

    It seems too few

    Her clothes are blue

    And I am too
