Simple Solutions using Duck Tape & a Robber Band

DH just finished post hospital discharge occupational therapy (OT). One really helpful tip we learned and implemented was using colored contrasting tape on our steps, to help DH differentiate one step from another. I alternated red and neon yellow using Duck brand tape which seems textured enough. I have attached a picture.

I also used the neon yellow tape to mark a specific place on the safety bar in the bathroom for DH to grab when he sits on the toilet. It has helped getting DH to sit where he is supposed to (not hang his fanny over the side or too far forward). Also notice the rubber band that holds the toilet lid up all the time. I learned this nifty trick on this website. If you have ever had the misfortune of cleaning poop off the top of the toilet lid, you will appreciate the simplicity of this solution.

Hilarious! The way I read it, it said rubber band. I really like the idea of tape on the steps. That should be helpful for a lot of people. Thanks!!

Actually, LT, I think that "robber band" is a pretty good term for the group of diseases that have collectively robbed all of us here of our LOs, our expectations of anything like "normal" old age, our financial security, etc., etc. You've been brilliant with this, whether or not you meant to be.

When the Sons of the Pioneers went bad . . .  The movie Roy and Dale never made (but should have.)  Love it!  And the creative ideas, too.

    Hi Lady Texan,

I laughed when I saw the title of your thread - living on a farm you can fix anything almost with duct tape and baling wire.   You have some good solutions to problems using them - good for you.

@Lorita - reminds me of my first toolkit:

    1. Duct tape to stick it together.
    2. WD-40 to take it apart.
    3. Butter knife to use as a screw driver.
    4. Most shoes can be used as a hammer.

Lady Texan,   I love the description of your first tool kit!

When I was a young single mother (many, many moons ago), I know I was constantly trying to figure out how to do everything without the "proper tools".
