Mom living with a friend/not a good situation/don't know what to do

Mom recently sold her home.  She chose to live in a casita at a friend's house, even after being presented with other options.  The friend has alienated me from my mom.  Mom does not want to leave.  I'm frustrated and don't know what to do.  Mom has been diagnosed as early stages of dementia.  This is like a nightmare that never ends.

Welcome to the forum.  Do you have power of attorney for your mom?  That's going to make a difference in terms of what your options are.  Whether you have it or not, you may want to consult a certified elder law attorney (CELA) to see what can be done; a CELA can also help you to get powers of attorney taken care of if you don't have them.  You may need to talk to adult protective services also, particularly if you are afraid this "friend" is going to take advantage of your mother financially.  Another option just for helping you sort out your options:  the Alzheimer's Association has a free hotline, 1-800-272-3900.  Ask to speak to a care consultant, and they may be able to help you figure out what to do.  Good luck.
