Please do let us know how you are doing when you can.  Our grandaughter and her family live in Louisiana, they to evacuated to a friend's home in Alabama; they left yesterday morning. 

The usual two hour drive took over seven hours due to the heavy traffic from all the other evacuees.

We will be thinking of you.

Thoughts and prayers for those of you and your LOs who might have to fight the wrath of Ida. Having LOs with dementia or other illnesses must make it unimaginable to deal with. Please let us know you are safe.

I some of the happiest years of my life living in the city of New Orleans. I lived in the Garden District and hardly ever used my car because I was a block off the streetcar line that ran down St. Charles. I worked downtown with people who had rich histories and came from places like Cuba, Hungary, Cartagena, as well as some of the original old New Orleans families. I love that city and its vast culture of beautiful people, and am hoping and praying this storm is not a repeat of Katrina or worse. Hoping for all of my Louisiana neighbors that no harm comes to them. New Orleans will always have a special place in my heart.

Please be safe, evacuate if possible, and if not possible to evacuate, be prepared as best you can. Our hurricane last week was a dud, and I hope Ida ends up much weaker than the predictions. Let us know how y’all make out.
