LO self-awareness/extreme anxiety

Hi all, I'm hoping someone has some useful advice on a situation we're encountering with my 85yo Mom with late stage 6 dementia (guessing, not a diagnosis).  She's receiving 24/7 care at home with hospice (no ADLS) following a pretty harrowing couple of months of surgeries/hospitalizations/rehabs due to a fall.  She's having episodes of severe anxiety - shaking, tears, fear - over her own confusion.  She has no memory of the recent physical traumas (or short term memory at all) but is very aware of her mental state and able to articulate her confusion and fear.  Has anyone else encountered this, and do you have any tips for how to help her be at peace? Thanks in advance.

Hospice should be addressing this issue.  They are there to help with physical AND mental distress.
