Thank you to my friends
I have been gone for a few months. DW was sent to MC in December. At that time I was told that I was the trigger for her aggressive behavior and I should "love her from afar." Between December 22 and August 9, I had visited her seven times. On August 9, she was more confused than normal and was running a fever. She was sent to the Emergency room where she was diagnosed with diverticulitis. Three days later that was cleared up and a more intense infection developed.
On Friday August 13, DW went into inpatient hospice care. I had been so focused on her deteriorating mental state that I had neglected to watch her physical deterioration.
On September 6, her dementia journey ended.
Thank you to all the friends I have met on these boards. Thank you for listening to (reading) my rants, vents, and frustrations. Without you advising me, I would have preceded her.
If you are new to "the place no one wants to be," you cannot go wrong with the advice from the people on this board. They have walked the walk. They know of what they speak.
I have donated her brain for research. Let us hope that our trials will benefit someone in the future.

Wyoaviator, I am sorry for your loss. I understand completely the concentration on mental and emotional changes, only to be surprised by the physical manifestations of his disease. It’s been hard, but you have been a loyal and steadfast caregiver, and now its time to cate for yourself. Good luck in this next stage. If you still fly, enjoy the freedom and beauty of it.0

I'm always afraid of being awkward because of my poor command of English, so my message won't be very original. I am truly sorry for your loss0

I'm so sorry Wyoaviator. The end is so final and somehow unreal. When you say you'd "neglected" to watch her physical condition, I do hope you aren't feeling responsible for it happening. Infection is one of the classic end-of-life symptoms. The bodies organs are beginning to fail and cannot fight infection.
Wishing comfort for you as you navigate Stage 8. Know that we are all here for you.
