How do you manage very active LOs?

My LO is very active and thinks he's ok. He's in middle stages of dementia.

We are having trouble with him tinkering & thus breaking home tools. He takes everything apart! Right down to every last nut and bolt. He's done this with the grill, lawnmower, weedwacker, and the list goes on.

Last summer he took apart the lawnmower so bad we ended up buying another. He just took that one apart this week. He's obsessive about keeping a nice lawn, so naturally he wants to buy another.

Any suggestions??

Maybe move the good lawnmower etc to the neighbors house, or otherwise put them out of sight and get him old ones and other items to take apart, tell him he is helping out the school shop class or something?

As far as taking things apart, maybe you could substitute his actual tools for a kid's toolbox (so he's not in danger of hurting himself). Maybe have him help you build models of some sort to help with the tinkering.

As far as the lawnmower, move it to yours or a neighbor's house and see if you can hire a company to mow his lawn.
