Recording Live Music

Hi Friends.  We are musicians and my DH is the talented one- a vocalist, musician, and writer. He was Dx in August with EO. His ability to play and remember are already in decline. Band members are making generous allowances so he may continue to 'play' and be on stage as long as he wishes. Out of the many things he is losing, music is the biggest blow.

What has worked for you to casually record live music at home? I have tried via smart phone but the quality is poor. We're talking accoustic bluegrass/rock/folk.

My DH used to love playing guitar, and he was quite good.  I have absolutely no idea if this is any good for your purposes, but he used the Tascam:   https://tascam.com/us/category/Handheld_and_Field_Recorders.   If this doesn't help, maybe it will get you closer to what you are looking for.
