A note to Biogen

The Neurological Center in Washington D.C. has posted this message to Biogen representatives outside their door:

In response to the growing controversy over the new BIOGEN Alzheimer's medication, Aduhelm, BIOGEN pharmaceutical representatives are no longer welcome in our offices.  BIOGEN representatives should not enter or engage staff, physicians, or patients.

The Neurological Center physicians in this fashion add our voices to the many in our professional community who feel similarly.  We object to the methods employed by BIOGEN causing this medication of dubious effectiveness and posing significant statistical risk being approved by the FDA over the objections of the entire FDA physician advisory board.  Three of them felt so strongly they resigned in protest.  BIOGEN's subsequent announcement of pricing beyond anyone's definition of reasonableness is potentially destabilizing to the entire system of paying for medical care and to us is irresponsible and unconsionable.  As physicians we feel compelled to speak out and protest BIOGEN's actions.
