Stressed(1)

My Mom has had three strokes which threw her in dementia. She screams for hours during the night and sometimes during the day. She is bed ridden due to the strokes. We are best friends. I take care of her 24/7. I stay stressed out. I'm so sad and depressed because I miss my mom so much. She has medication to try to keep her calm but most nights it doesn't work. How do I deal with the screaming. I go back and forth about if I should put her in a nursing home. I don't want to feel like I failed her.

Are you and she able to get adequate sleep?  If not, have you talked to her doctor about this?  A human needs to sleep, and you are both at risk if the screaming can't be managed.  She may need a medication change.

When she screams all night she makes up for no sleep the next day by sleeping most of the day. I sleep but I'm always listening for her screaming to start. I have been trying to get her a sleeping pill for her but no luck so far.
