Cobalt hip replacements associated with dementia

I recently watched a documentary that talked about neurological effects associated with cobalt hip replacements that cause dementia symptoms.  The film was generally about surgical devises that probably should never have been on the market...a real eye opener.

Cobalt levels in these people’s blood is way above normal + when the offending joints are replaced with plastic ones, the problems cease.

If anyone wants to see the documentary, it is The Bleeding Edge on Netflix.  I would urge any caretaker that has a LO with dementia that has a metal hip repair to have their cobalt levels checked immediately.   The problems can be reversed if the metal is removed.  This surgery is very common now.

Terei I'm pretty sure all cobalt-containing prostheses were taken off the American market in 2013, but there are undoubtedly some still out there.
