Voice change

I’ve read about LO’s voices changing. It’s happened here. Her voice has gone up and is a constant whining. All day. Think of the worst toddler tantrum you can remember. She’s almost nonverbal. She can say Hi. We say hi to each other in and endless loop. She understands little, can’t answer yes/no questions, is not happy, paces constantly, exit seeks, cries, grabs us. She wails or yells “no” when she can’t have something or we say no for her safety. She’s so scared and sad. We try to help her. The seraquel seems to be helping a bit. This wears on us. I’ve never seen my DH struggle with caregiving before. It’s throwing me. We start antibiotics today in case it’s a UTI. We also had to hire help. That has helped slightly with my mental state but has not helped hers at all.

I hate this disease.

    I hate it, too.

Glad you got some help.  My grandmother went back to 'toddler' stage, but I don't remember any voice-change. She did get clingy to anyone around.

My wife (stage 5) has not had a change in her voice, but she whispers a lot which makes it hard for me to hear her. Most of what she says doesn’t make any sense which makes it even more difficult. On a side note, I would be concerned with anyone who does not hate this disease.

Thanks to all who replied. Behavior seems to be getting a little better after a few days of antibiotics.

The kids have a calm, safe home. She lives in the tiny house.

I keep reminding myself that they are doing well, cross country, Scouts, student of the month, Academic Team. The two in college are...still in college. Lol. Oldest has probably found his Ph.D. dissertation topic. Second is learning to overcome the challenges of severe learning disabilities. His way forward is not clear because a lot depends on him. His time line has always been different so we are trying to find our way. Parent teacher conferences went well. Most teachers and admins know. They support us. Gotta love a small, small town.

Arrowhead, I totally understand where you're coming from. My daddy has always talked softly but now it's barely above a whisper. Tried to hear what he was saying earlier but only caught on "pick up truck".  It's been over 30 years since he had a truck so he must have been back then in his mind.

WHISPERS:  This is one of the symptoms of Lewy Body Dementia or Parkinson's Dementia.  Worth looking up because there are a number of medications that LBD patients are sensitive to.
