Joy
So yesterday we had a cold front move through with a lot of wind behind it--gusts between 40-60 mph; cool and perfectly clear. I was sitting outside in front of our house on the grass throwing the frizbee for my GSD, and letting my little Havanese sun himself and warm up (he is a breed from Cuba and hates being cold).
We have quite a lot of very tall pine trees on our property and a forest in front of our house with more tall pines. I was looking up at the pines (green against a perfectly blue sky)- which were swaying in the wind---they looked like they were dancing
.Then I saw a large flock of large black vultures slowly come into view. They were riding the wind thermals---so many kept coming and they were just peacefully gliding along. The pines were swaying and the birds were floating in a beautiful kind of flight parade.
To make things even better a red-tailed hawk appeared and was also enjoying riding effortlessly with the currents. The sun was at a perfect angle to enhance the hawk's creamy underbelly---making it appear to glow. Then I heard him call which gave me chills--it is a primal sound that always gives me a thrill to hear.
I laid back on the grass and began to laugh. My dogs just sat there and watched me laugh as I was telling them "look what nature has brought to us today!" It was so good to feel complete joy.
May you all find something in nature to give you peace and possibly just a little hope. Carry on.

It certainly does sound like heaven! To just be relaxed and laugh out loud! I can’t remember the last time I have done that! So very proud and happy for you!0

This sounds lovely; just to be with the moment, receptive, and alive.
P.S. I think dogs deeply "get" joy.0 -
Thank you for the lovely images, Drina! I can see them in my tired mind's eye. Yes dogs definitely "get" joy. It's probably one of the reasons they have grown to be such an integral, beloved part of our lives. I don't think I could have gotten through the past year without my most faithful pal. At the end of every long harrowing day we take a long walk together. Just him and I under the stars. He has given me joy on days I doubted there could ever be joy again.
Hugs to you and your dogs!
