Progress

Emergency Guardianship hearing set for the 15th of this month, with my siblings and myself. .  I filled out a bond application for a surety bond/guardianship bond; apparently, it costs between $2000-5000 to be bonded.  I'm now registered with the state to be a guardian and took the online class and got my certificate.  Being the researcher I am, I even looked up the judge we are expecting to go before, a strong minded judge and woman.  I am just excited that I finally have a chance at some sort resolution.  I found out my Dad hasn't seen a doctor since we tried to get him fully diagnosed with a neurologist in June.  He should be having monthly wellness visits because of the constant, daily care needed.  On the upside, there is now an attorney ad litem assigned to my Dad who caught my stepmom taking Dad to an attorney's office for "estate planning" a few days ago.  He also stopped by Dad's house and thought it was vacant due to the lack of lighting during the day and no one answering the door or his phone calls.  Bad news is if you include the brokerage firm as an interpleader and looking for guidance; there are now 4 lawyers involved.  Just what we didn't want to happen,  Brokerage attorney, attorney ad litem, shyster attorney of stepmother (I say this because he filed a dpoa based on stepmother's claims  after I provided him my dpoa and medical letter enacting it.) and our attorney.   My stepmother has blocked my Dad from receiving calls from certain numbers, mine included.  I'm going to test my new google voice number to see if I can get through tomorrow.  Is there a limit for google voice numbers?  I have a feeling I may have to continue changing it just to get through.  I will be so relieved for any sort of progress to get my Dad the care and security he desperately needs.

Will be on pins and needles for at least the next 9 days,

Thanksgiving is going to be a doozy this year.

Thank you for the update Mikela. I hope things continue to go well for you and your dad. What a long, awful journey it's been for all of you. How did the attorney ad litem discover that your stepmom took your dad to an attorney's office for estate planning? He/she is good! I have confidence in female judges. Let's hope it goes well. Hoping the best for you and your dad!
