I've lost so many to this disease...
My grandfather on my dad's side had Alzheimers as well as my dad's sister. Then my dad passed away from it in2016but it was never determined which kind he had, I believe it was Lewy body due to the way he acted. Shortly after my dad died, my mother started showing symptoms of Dementia which we later determined that to be Lewy body as well. She passed away last January. Then my 62 year old brother who was a Marine veteran went into the hospital in January of 2021 and basically never got better after suffering a stroke in 2016. My older sister is showing signs of Dementia and I was tested thru a neurologist and found to be borderline Dementia but I have already had a stroke at the age of 30 and years suffering depression including Schizoaffective disorder.
I know this was a lot throw out all at once but I needed to say it. Thank you.

My depression gets worse by the day and I am determined not to let this disease turn me into a vegetative state like my mom,dad and brother. I'll take my own life into my hands before I let that happen. I've seen the pain in their eyes and I won't put my family thru it.0

I'm sorry that various forms of dementia runs in your family and that you have had a stroke early in life. Depression affects many people and it vital that you speak to your doctor about your feelings. Dementia comes to most of us sooner or later and is not something to spare your family member from. I learned so much taking care of my mom. I would not trade that opportunity to show her unconditional love for anything, except a healthy mom and that wasn't our decision to make. We understand because we have all cared for someone with dementia. Please write back often for understanding, support and loving concern.0

Thank you for your comments and concerns. Its just one right after the other and it its seems like we didn't get enough time to be with them one one. I'm glad at least to know that with my mom she let us know that she wanted to see my brother who was bedridden before she passed. So I went to get him and I really feel she enjoyed her last night on earth with most of her 7 kids. I told her she could go home and be with God then and she died peacefully in her sleep.0

My best friend of 16 years died this past March 2nd from Dementia. I rescued her from the local animal shelter and gave her the best life she could ever ask for and I would do all over again!0

You have suffered many losses and one special one only recently. With the holidays coming, ones we used to share with our missing loved ones, it could be very sad and hard on you. I'm sorry for you and for all of us who will be missing our loved ones.
Sometimes it is hard to feel joy, but I try to remember that my mom's prayers were always that her children have good lives, happiness and health and so I try to be happy for her sake. She would want that for me, as I'm sure your loved ones would want that for you. Take good care!
