There is a very nice article about what Lady Gaga says about Tony Bennett in an interview.  I am unable to copy it on my smartphone.  You can do a search for the headline "Lady Gaga heartbroken over Bennett's health".  It's in a lot of media.

A brief statement fom the article:  "Gaga spoke how music can sometimes help people with Alzheimer's or dementia.  'If you are with that person that you love, play some music from their childhood and I promise you that they will come to life in a way that is not expected'."

Lady Gaga seems like a caring person.

I actually saw Tony Bennett years ago,  pretty much by accident.  I went to this show:

12/10/93 Exhibition Center, S.F. Live 105 Christmas Show [acoustic]

    "Green Christmas 1993"
    Winter 1993
    Concourse Exhibition Center

Tony Bennett, Cracker, General Public, Evan Dando from The Lemonheads, Nick Heyward, Porno For Pyros, Redd Kross, Teenage Fanclub, They Might Be Giants, The Wonder Stuff

I was there to see the Wonder Stuff (one of my favorite bands at the time), and Tony Bennett came on right before them.  Most of those bands are punk, punk-pop, or some related flavor, and I'm not really a fan. So I was always going to see whoever came on right before the Stuff, stay for the Stuff, and then leave.

All of those 20-something years olds were loving Tony Bennett. He had them eating out of his hand.  It was something to see.  And he did a great show - I'm glad I got to see him.

I'm not much of a Tony Bennett fan except for "I left my heart in San Francisco" but I look forward to his performance tonight.

I find music is very helpful and soothing for dementia/alz patients. My husband who is 60 years old was diagnosed 12 months ago, so as you can imagine our "young" lives have changed dramatically. We both grew up with music of the 70's and 80's and we both enjoy this genre so much we have lots of fun singing to it, especially when we go for car rides. He doesn't always remember the words but its fun to listen to him change up the word s.  I have decided to start playing the piano again for him... mainly movie soundtrack songs and some classical. Its great to see him "escape" from this awful disease while listening/singing and dancing even if only for the length of the song. We usually end up listening for about 30 mins or so and the smile on his face is priceless.

My husband was diagnosed at age 59 1/2. He loves listening to 70's and 80's music!
