Update on my Mom.
I haven’t been posting much. The last time I saw my parents was during the week of Hurricane Ida and then I went home to deal with the aftermath. My sister and I came to visit them and spend Thanksgiving with them. It’s been almost three months (I think) and Mom has declined a lot. She has lost weight and she is very weak. She doesn’t enjoy eating anymore, I don’t think she recognizes what food is and what it’s for. We can’t get her to stand up but the hospice nurse can get her into a wheelchair. She has very little muscle tone, her skin is hanging off of her. She has a UTI and getting her to swallow the antibiotics is a huge undertaking. She will chew the pill or hide it behind her bottom lip. She sleeps almost constantly. I am extremely grateful to be here and have this time with her and Dad. He’s so happy to have us here. I think he’s happy to have people to talk to. A conversation with Mom is impossible, she’s just not able.
The last time I posted I was very upset with my Dad. My sister and I want to sit down with him to talk about things and his decision to stay 9/10 hours away from us. I appreciate everyone who took the time to reply and offer some very good advice and support. I’d be truly lost without you all and this forum. You all are my support system and my safe haven. I am grateful for all of you. I hope that you will have a peaceful day tomorrow and find something to make you smile. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and Thank You!

Thanks for taking the time to share.
I am glad you and your sister are able to make the visit and have time with both your parents. And I am glad your (justifiable) anger and frustration around your dad's choices has abated. Anger is only useful when it can be channeled into something positive.
