It does not say how long you have to fast to induce autophagy. I wonder if intermittent fasting/skipping breakfast is enough to get some benefit or if it has to be a days-long fast?

I remember reading something fairly recently that even short bursts of exercise are protective against Alzheimer's - that you should do something daily to get your heart rate up, even if you don't have time for a session on the treadmill, running out to the mailbox and back, or doing some jumping jacks for a minute or two is a lot better than nothing.

I have read that intermittent fasting can be as simple as doing all of your eating within an 8-hour period, leaving 16 hours to get hungry again.  Good breakfast and lunch, healthy snacks AM & PM, skip supper and bedtime snacks.

Victoria2020 - thank you for posting / sharing!

LovingAwareness - good question about fasting and autophagy! I did a quick search and from what I read, autophagy in non-human animals began at 24h of fasting and peaked at 48h.
In humans, there seemed to be more varied information. One of the links I followed said that different organs in the body had different timing for the commencement of autophagy; the brain began earlier than other organs...at about 18h of fasting was one result. It definitely merits a more thorough looking-into than my quick online search. There does seem to be some published research on this subject, which is good.
