I have wondered about that since the staff isn't with each resident 24/7. 5 years ago, when my mom was in assisted living, I saw some hostility from residents who were jealous that I visited my mother so often. A few of them made really mean comments to me.

Also, some of my mom's items went missing and mysteriously returned when she caused a commotion, knocking on everyone's doors, asking who stole from her. The staff was upset, but the items were returned.

I know, I know, many items are either lost or hidden.  But I find it odd that live plants and flower arrangements "disappear" within a week of me bringing them (I bring them once a week.) C'est la vie. We do the best we can.

One of my friends moved her mother out of one facility because a group of women were bullying her. The director of the facility turned a blind eye to what was going on.
