Extra precautions during Covid

I recently read an article while waiting in the doctors office. It was originally published for flu season and was republished for covid with a couple of additions.

Do not use bath towels more than once. Put them in the hamper asap.

Do not use hand towels in the bathroom. Use paper towels.

If you have been out in public, wash hands and face as soon as you get home. Change clothes. Put everything in the hamper asap.

Wipe down door knobs and switch plates with soapy bleach water.

As an extra precaution I have started adding a few drops of bleach to the dishwasher, the washing machine and the mop water.

When I clean my mom's hands I have started adding a couple of drops of bleach to the soapy water because her nails are always very unsanitary. I also wipe down the hand rails of her bed and her food tray with the same type of solution.

No amount of bleach placed in dishwashing water has been shown to be safe for human consumption, at any level of dilution. Bleach can also interact with the chemicals used in dishwasher detergents.

    The other suggestions seem safe.

Hydrogen peroxide is great and will not "bleach" anything! Vinegar workd too.

I think Oxiclean makes more than one pruduct that sanitizes laundry/hardsurfaces.

All through this pandemic we have bee told that the most effective thing is plain old soap. Wash your hands (while singing happy birthday). Wash your cloth masks. So I am not sure using more than soap is necessary for Covid protection.

But, if you are dealing with incontinence and resulting issues, than more than soap is a good idea. But, you need to be careful about mixing products.

Just an FYI, we have two and a half bathrooms in our house.   Years ago, I eliminated cloth hand towels in all bathrooms.  I bought very handsome looking vertical paper towels holders that holds the paper towel rolls upright.  We use paper towels only for drying hands after washing in the bathroom and kitchen; nothing cloth.

Some people wash their hands well; others do not.  Even if one washes their hands well, not all microbes are vanquished.  In the interests of not passing germs from one person to another and another and another - all who use the same towel; the paper towels prevent that.

Use a nail brush or an old toothbrush to clean under the nails.

I used to gargle with diluted hydrogen peroxide solution after returning home when Covid first appeared but I have not recently.

I had to remove paper towels from the bathroom unfortunately, as my DH flushes anything and you know how that ends up.

We don’t go out and don’t have hardly anyone in, but will start with an aide tomorrow. I need to figure something out so we are not sharing towels. Some say they are vaccinated but who has proof? Yikes
