Hallucination that his wife is alive but hiding somewhere
My dad is still fairly connected with reality but recently he has started telling me that he has a voice in his head that tells him his wife (my mom) is still alive but is hiding somewhere and I can help him find her. I think it is actually a recurring dream. He is in AL and has made some friends but this hallucination is starting to affect time he spends with anyone. I have told him that it is just a dream but then the next day he wakes up and it starts all over again. Do I just keep telling him? He generally gets a little sad and then just gets on his day as normal. I am afraid if I don't tell him he will never leave his room and he keeps telling me he is lonely. Thanks!

When my wife would try to walk to her deceased parents house I often told her that they would be coming here.
Try telling your father that your mother will come out of hiding when she is ready. Or maybe that she will be there later. Just keep trying different scenarios until you find one that works.

That's a good idea, @Arrowhead. My mom believes her deceased husband is back to life. She also often thinks her parents are at our house, they are also deceased. She'll come into the room and say "where did everybody go?". I guess I could try suggesting that they are playing hide and seek, or that they went home and will be back later.0

TB, switching to a complete different subject after validation, does she lose the train of thought?0

Shevie, yes, sometimes she'll lose her train of thought. The end of the day is the hardest. She gets pretty stubborn and of course we're both tired. Last night, she wanted to know where her "friend" Alan Jackson went, as she was expecting to go on a date. I told her he had to make a quick run to the grocery store. Much to my surprise, she still allowed me to lead her to her room for bed.0
